- Japanese restaurant — This was our one genuine disappointment. A long wait, an unfriendly server, and a meal that didn’t meet our expectations. The server never checked in with us — and while we left a tip, it certainly didn’t feel deserved.
- Port Maria restaurant — This redeemed our dining experience entirely. An incredible meal, a friendly waiter and waitress, and they even treated us to extra Jamaican cake to enjoy in our room.
- Steakhouse — Our Butler Christopher secured us a spot with no wait despite the restaurant typically requiring reservations. The service was good, the food solid — far more satisfying than the Japanese restaurant.
Overall, our dining experience was positive — with one exception that JOIA could certainly improve on.

A standout moment of our stay was an unforgettable beach party. Ten men stepped up to showcase their best dance moves, and the variety of styles on display was extraordinary. Laughter filled the air with each new contestant, and the DJ and hostess perfectly complemented the fun.
My travel companion emerged as the winner — and for the rest of our trip, guests approached us throughout the resort recognizing him as “the dancer” and sharing that they had voted for him. We couldn’t go anywhere without being recognized! It made the entire stay feel like one big celebration.

Verona went above and beyond to ensure our satisfaction from day one. She anticipated our every need, proactively checked in on us, and made sure we were consistently well taken care of throughout our stay. She is the kind of staff member who transforms a good trip into an unforgettable one.
Christopher — Our Butler
Christopher surpassed every expectation. He ensured we had dinner reservations each night, personally escorted us to each restaurant, and made sure we were seated before departing. When my travel partner accidentally left an item in our original room, Christopher promptly filed a lost and found report — and later texted us personally to confirm the item had been recovered. He patiently waited in the lobby to return it to us himself.
Whenever we had requests, all it took was a mention — and it was promptly addressed. We don’t see Verona and Christopher as simply resort staff. They have become family.
